NorthEast United FC registered their second consecutive win in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League as they beat defending champions Atlético de Kolkata at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on Friday evening. Andre Bikey, who joined the team before the game against Chennaiyin FC earlier this week as a replacement for the injured Miguel Garcia, has proven to be lucky for the Assam-based team. It’s now two wins in two matches for him. The Cameroonian defender spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match on Friday and expressed his joy at NorthEast United FC’s second win of the season.
How happy are you with the performance of the team?
Yes, definitely. We have managed to win our last two home games. We just have to keep going now and perform well.
"As the matches keep coming on, we’ll try our best to keep taking those three points."
Andre BikeyAfter you joined the Hero ISL, your team has won two on the trot. How do you feel about that?
It feels good. But you have to understand that the team is tackling a lot of injuries as well. We do have the marquee player [Simao Sabrosa] back, but there are still 4-5 injuries in the side. I’ve come in to the help the team and they have got it going very well now. And I hope to keep going that way.
What do you have to say about all the home fans in Guwahati?
It’s always a pleasure to play at home. It’s a special motivation. So if we win a game, we ought to say, ‘well done!’ to the crowd as well as they push us and fill us with that special kind of energy.
You've kept two clean sheets in two games. What do you say on that?
Clean sheets matter a lot. As the matches keep coming on, we’ll try our best to keep taking those three points.
