As the celebrations around our first home victory settles down, it is time to gear up for a busy week ahead as we play two home games against Kerala Blasters and North East United in a span of 3 days. The team is in buoyant mood after registering a comfortable victory over FC Goa in the previous match and are expecting tough opposition in the match against Kerala on Thursday. The David James led side haven’t been in menacing form this season and are 7th on the table with just a point to show for the 3 games played. A win for FC Pune City here, will send us to the TOP FOUR in the table, tied with North East United at 7 points. Which should then make up for a mouth watering duel between the two sides on 3rd November. It will be interesting to see if Coach Colomba tweaks around too much with the side that gave him the first home win. Ivan Bolado Palacios impressed all in the outing against FC Goa. He was a constant threat in the opposition’s box- making smart runs and decisive passes to bring David Trezeguet into play. It could be the Trezeguet-Bolado partnership that once again starts for us tomorrow. One glaring aspect of the match against FC Goa was the confident play all around by the team. The defenders linked up well to make clearances and the midfielders were ready to pounce on any chance of a counter attack. Lenny Rodrigues later said, that the plan was to re assemble quickly everytime they lose the ball and keeping possession could again be key against a Kerala side which is raring for their first win.The central pairing of Kostas Katsouranis and Mehrajuddin Wadoo looks as solid as ever. With Daniele Magliochetti now by his stride, Bruno Cirillo looks more confident manning a defence that already has 2 cleansheets from 3 games. Ashutosh Mehta and Israil Gurung have been the Indian faces in the side that have mightily impressed. The plan A for FC Pune City must be to approach this game with a lot of confidence and look to carry the momentum forward in front of the home crowd. The team looks like it has found its rhythm and the home crowd would love to see an FC Pune City double in the same week! It’s an exciting clash on the menu at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium and if you haven’t booked your tickets yet, do it NOW!P.S.
