ATK star Roy Krishna has edged out the competition to win the Hero of the Month award for November. To recall, Krishna was one of the nominees for the award, which celebrates the best individual performer of the month gone by, alongside the likes of Jamshedpur FC striker Sergio Castel, Bengaluru FC goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Odisha FC forward Aridane Santana and FC Goa defender Mourtada Fall.

The Fiji international pipped his competition to the award after receiving 44.29% of combined votes, as per the official Hero of the Month vote counting formula, cast by fans and a panel of experts.

Here's a reminder of how the vote count works:

Fans' votes will count towards 50% of the vote share and experts' votes account for the remaining 50%.

For example, if nominee ‘A’ gets 80 % of votes from fans, it will be counted as 40% in the final tally.

Similarly, if nominee A gets 60% of the experts' votes, it will be counted as 30% in the final tally and his final count will be 70% (40%+30%).

The nominee with the highest cumulative percentage (fans + experts) after voting ends will be named the Hero of the Month.

In the event that two players end up with equal final percentage (fans & experts' votes), the nominee with the higher percentage of experts' votes will win.

Krishna's final tally was 44.29% which helped him just edge out Castel, whose combined tally came up to 39.99%. Krishna received three of the eight votes from the panel of experts whilst also receiving a whopping 51.08% of the votes cast by fans during the voting period.

While October saw Krishna's teammate David Williams shine and win the month's Hero of the Month award, November was Krishna's time to take centre stage as he managed to keep the award in the ATK camp. The ace striker struck three times in three matches last month and even laid out an assist. The 32-year-old had a hand in four of the five goals scored by ATK overall during the course of November. He starred in ATK's 3-1 win over Jamshedpur FC, winning and scoring two penalties before setting up Edu Garcia for the team's third. After drawing blank in a 0-0 away draw against Odisha FC, Krishna turned saviour for his team during a 2-2 draw against Mumbai City FC, as he scored an added time equaliser to earn ATK a point at home in the final fixture of the month.
