Defending champions ATK travel to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi to take on hosts Delhi Dynamos FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Saturday. With neither of the teams having any chance of making it to the playoffs, both will play for pride and to better their standing in the league table. ATK have had a dismal season marred by injuries to key players and will enter the match on the back of six winless encounters. One of their brightest sparks, however, has been 22-year-old midfielder Bipin Singh, who has two goals and an assist to his name thus far. On the eve of the match, the Hero ISL debutant spoke to the indiansuperleague.com about the season, his team and more. Here are the excerpts.

This is your first year in Hero ISL, so how has the experience been so far?

I played in the Hero I-League for all these years and this year I got a chance to play in the Hero ISL, so it has been a completely different experience for me. It is very different on the field as well as off it.

How and when did your professional football journey begin?

I don’t remember when I started playing football as it was a long time back, when I was a kid. I joined Shillong Lajong FC in 2012 and played in the I-League. This year I am representing ATK in the ISL for the first time.

You share the dressing room with players like Robbie Keane. What according to you do young players get to learn from such big stars?

We get to learn a lot. Even when we make mistakes on the ground, he (Keane) nicely tells us how to play and what to do to improve. He helps us a lot.

How do you rate your own performances this season?

I feel that I am playing well, but I can definitely play much better. So, I will try to improve myself and play better in the next season.

From which player in ATK have you learnt the most?

I can’t single out one player from whom I have learnt a lot. I get to learn different things from almost every player in the squad, be it the juniors or the seniors.

It has been a disappointing season for ATK, but how are you’ll looking forward to the remaining matches?

Anyone who plays for the team in the remaining matches will give their best on the field. We definitely have to win the remaining two matches and that’s how we are looking forward to the fixtures.

What do you make Delhi Dynamos?

Delhi is a very good team and for sure it won’t be an easy match. But I think if we try hard we will definitely win it.
