Jamshedpur FC kick-start their second campaign in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) with an away encounter against Mumbai City FC on Tuesday at the Mumbai Football Arena. With a new head coach at the helm and a host of new recruits in the squad, Jamshedpur look intent on reaching the playoffs this season.

Among a number of new players to have been brought on board, experienced goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury also finds a place. With main custodian Subrata Paul serving a suspension, he is expected to make his club debut against the Islanders. Prior to the game, the shot-stopper spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com. Here are the excerpts:

How does it feel to be competing with Paul for the starting spot?

It feels good. After many years we are playing together again. We started together at Tata Football Academy, now we are back at Tata with Jamshedpur FC. We both know each other and we help each other. But on the ground, we both give 100 percent. It’s good to be playing with him.

On chances of starting under Cesar Ferrando.

I think, if I work well and practice well, obviously, I will get my chance.

What made you move back to Jamshedpur?

One thing you can say is that my home is close and I got a good opportunity, so I came to Jamshedpur FC.

On the new signings.

All the players that Jamshedpur FC have signed, including the Spanish players, they are all good. Understanding has also been good. My opinion is that they are all good signings.

Message for Jamshedpur fans.

I have heard a lot that the Jamshedpur FC fans support well, so what I will say to them is that if we win or lose, whatever happens, keep coming to the ground and support us and we will try our best to make you happy.
