NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters FC played out a goalless draw in their Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 clash at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Friday. For the Highlanders, the result ended a run of four losses on the trot.

The biggest chance of the match, however, fell the Highlanders’ way in the 50th minute as Bilal Khan saved Nikhil Kadam’s shot following a well-worked move. At the post-match press conference, NorthEast head coach Robert Jarni referred to the opportunity and said, “We had an excellent chance to score a goal, but we couldn’t. Nikhil also got injured during a corner leading up to the chance, which affected his shooting.”

Assessing his team’s performance on the night, the Croat opined, “Our performance tonight wasn’t close to the way we played in Mumbai (in our previous fixture). I am not very happy with the performance. We lost the intensity we had against Mumbai. We didn’t stay close to the opponent players. We lost our positions and we couldn’t control the plan as we did in Mumbai.”

Jarni also provided an update on the injuries to Nikhil Kadam and Provat Lakra, and revealed, “We got two injured players, Lakra and Nikhil. Tomorrow we will see the complete situation and then we will take our decisions. Both these players are injured and might not be available for the next game.”
