NorthEast United FC succumbed to a 3-0 defeat against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Thursday in their second match of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. The Highlanders are yet to score this season and need to turn things around quickly if they want to finish in the top 4. Speaking to indiansuperleague.com post-match was defender Nirmal Chettri. Here are the excerpts.

Nirmal, not the result you were expecting. What went wrong today?

The result is very disappointing for the team. The sooner we forget this match, the better. I think we will look forward (to the next game), have faith in ourselves and prepare for the third game.

Your team made a couple of changes at half time. Was there any particular reason for that?

I think it was because of injuries, the players picked up knocks. We were going according to plan, but somehow the changes did not go well. But we will look for the positives. Happy with the second half performance.

Yes, the first 15 minutes of the second half was very positive for you guys. What was the mentality? What did you come in with?

I think we had nothing to lose. We were 2-0 down at half-time and had nothing to lose. We thought of going all out and not looking back.

Two games, goalless as of now. Anything in particular you need to do up front?

Yes, definitely. We will work hard. As a team we lose, and we win together. It’s all about finding the net and soon we will find the net and the team will start winning.

3-0 is a tough defeat to take, but anything positive to take from today?

Definitely. Sometimes you take a lot of positives from the games you lose and prepare for the next game.
