Aaron Hughes will be hoping to keep things tight at the back during the first leg of the second semi-final of Hero Indian Super League 2016 between Kerala Blasters FC and Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday. Kerala’s marquee man, Hughes has been in fine form this season having made one successful tackle, five interceptions, 12 blocks and 38 clearances so far. The 37-year-old has also contributed in attack with a goal for the Blasters and has a passing accuracy of 79%. Hughes spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the first leg and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts from the interview. You have played in England at the highest level and have got hundred plus caps for Northern Ireland, so how important is it for you to win the ISL?It would definitely be up there and for all the games that I have played, actually I have not won anything and I came here to be successful and to have an opportunity to win something and I guess if I was lucky enough to walk away a winner, I would be very happy.Any player from the opposition team, whom would you target tomorrow…They have Malouda, Kean Lewis, Marcelinho and Gadze and that is an important four and when they get going together, they combine well and move well off each other and I think if we can contain that, then you have had a pretty good game. What is the mood in the camp like?It is relaxed, like it was in the lead-up to the NorthEast game, and I think that is a positive sign for us and that means everyone is approaching the games like they have done throughout the season and that has been a reason why we have had success. What score-line will you be satisfied with tomorrow?I think we need to focus on the level of performance than a particular score-line and that can help us going into the second leg. What’s your take on the Hero ISL, anything you want to share?I think it is a very competitive league and a lot more competitive than I thought and it has had close margins in games and I have enjoyed the competitiveness. It is about adjusting to the new conditions, and there might be a hundred new things I have learnt than one big thing, and in a week’s time if we can walk away with the title, then that will be the icing on the cake for me.
