Cedric Hengbart was a satisfied man after helping Kerala Blasters FC secure a semis berth in Hero Indian Super League 2016 following their 1-0 win over NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday. The win saw the Blasters move up to second in the table with 22 points from their 14 matches and set up a clash against Delhi Dynamos FC with the first leg scheduled to take place in Kochi on December 11. Hengbart ended the game with a 70% passing accuracy and made one block, two successful tackles, two interceptions and eight clearances. The Frenchman spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts on the game. Here are the excerpts from the interview. How was the game?We know NorthEast defended very well, and in the first half the match was very tight but after we scored, it became easier. What do you have to say about the fans who turned up in thousands today to support you?I want to thank them. Earlier in the season we did not have many points and they still supported us and we will try to repay their faith by winning the semi-finals.You have won five games in a row here in Kochi, so do you think it is primarily because of the home support?Yes, I think it is very important and I think the other teams might be a little afraid because the crowd is very good and it is the best in India. The goal Vineeth scored, what’s your take on that?Yes, Vineeth is good and all five of his goals have been very important and it is a team effort as we got a clean sheet again today, and if we want to win the final we need to defend together and attack together and keep clean sheets.
