Bio
Karl Fredrik Ljungberg is regarded as one of the finest footballers in Sweden's history. The Swede is known for his dazzling dribbling skills, while his passing ability make him a good team player. He rose through the ranks of Swedish club Halmstads BK, grabbing the attention of Europe's elite clubs by scoring and creating goals in Halmstads' Swedish League (1997) and Cup (1995) triumphs.
In 1998, he moved to Arsenal, and became a vital cog in Arsenal's successful sides in the early 2000s. He established himself as a Premier League icon by winning the Player of the Season award in 2001-02. Ljungberg was a member of the famed 'Invincibles' squad that went the entire 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten. He represented the London club for nine seasons, notching up 72 goals in 216 league appearances, and was recently rated the 11th-best player in Arsenal's history.
In 2007, he moved across London to join West Ham United, before trying his luck in Major League Soccer with Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire. He wore the colours of Scottish side Celtic FC in 2011 before embarking on an Asian journey with Shimizu S-Pulse in the J-League.
At the national level, Ljungberg represented the Swedish national side on 75 occasions, finding the net 14 times. He won the Swedish footballer of the year award twice in 2002 and 2006.
