Bio

Asif Kottayil is a deep-lying playmaker who is known for accurate passing and ball distribution. After playing football for his college in Payyanur he was signed by I-league division II club Malabar United. He left for Chirag United (later Prayag United) two seasons later. He then returned home to Viva Kerala, making 19 appearances and scoring once, only to make his way back to United in 2012 with a modicum of success. Asif has won the Durand Cup (2010) and IFA Shield (2013) during each of his spells with the purple shirts. The veteran has also been a regular at the national selection camps but is yet to make a breakthrough into the national side.
