The tall and well-built goalkeeper started playing senior professional football in 2002, representing clubs from Mumbai. He made his Hero ISL debut in 2016 with Kerala Blasters FC but was primarily a backup to Arindam Bhattacharja. Moving to Mumbai City in 2017-18, Sawant played second fiddle to Amrinder Singh, with the pattern repeating itself last season. The 32-year-old will be hoping that the new season will give him the opportunity to shine.
