Bio
Alessandro Del Piero is one of the most prolific forwards from Italy, ranked second in the list of Italian all-time top scorers on the club circuit. He has played for top Italian side Juventus for 19 years, captaining it for 11. He also figures in the FIFA 100 and list of greatest living footballers selected by Brazilian legend Pele. Del Piero has played at three FIFA World Cups having won in 2006, and four UEFA Euro Championships. He is Italy’s fourth highest joint-top scorer in his 91 appearances for the Azzurri. Del Piero usually plays as support striker and occasionally between the midfield and the strikers, known in Italy as the trequartista position. He has great vision, creativity, passing and dribbling abilities.
He made his debut at the age of 16 in Italy’s Serie B with Calcio Padova. In 1993 came his career defining move to Juventus and he won eight Serie A and one Serie B titles as he helped the Turin-based club return to the first division after they were relegated in 2006 due to a match fixing scandal. During his tenure at Juve he has played under the likes of Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi while playing alongside some all-time greats such as Pavel Nedved, Zlatan Ibrahamovic, Lillian Thuram, Patrick Viera, Gianluigi Buffon etc. He also formed a formidable partnership up front with David Trezeguet who has also joined the Hero ISL. With Juventus he also won one UEFA Champions League making it to the final on three other occasions.
