Marcus Williams started his footballing journey in the youth academy of Scunthorpe United. He would go on to spend seven full seasons in his boyhood club Scunthorpe before moving to Reading FC in 2010. Loan spells with Scunthorpe United, Peterborough United and Sheffield United followed. The 2012 campaign saw him sign for Sheffield United before moving back to Scunthorpe for the 2014 season. The Kerala Blasters will be hoping his penetrating runs from left-back will offer them a new dimension in attack as Season 2 of the Hero-Indian Super League approaches.
