The Cali-born defender came up through the ranks of local club and traditional powerhouses América de Cali, making his first team debut at the age of 19. Known as a solid, intelligent defender, Andrés González helped Colombia finish fourth in the 2004 Copa America. He has played for three of the biggest clubs in Colombia, with stints at Independiente Santa Fe and Junior de Barranquilla to go with his time at América de Cali.
