Bio
A dependable and experienced central defender, Anupam Sarkar was part of the Bengal squad that won the Santosh Trophy twice in succession under the guidance of famed striker of yesteryears, Shabbir Ali. Sarkar began his professional career in the red & gold colours before migrating to the other Kolkata clubs. A former India under-19 alumnus, he moved up the ladder and made the team for the 2006 Asian Games at Doha and also the Asian Cup qualifiers the same year.
Sarkar has won the Kolkata league with East Bengal in 2006 and the IFA Shield with United in 2013. The assignment with Pune City is his first professional foray outside the ‘city of joy’.
