Kerala Blasters FC coach Ivan Vukomanovic demands his players to be more organized and clever even as his side defeated Odisha FC 2-1 in their fourth match of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco da Gama on Sunday.

One goal each from Alvaro Vazquez and Prasanth K. sealed the victory for KBFC. OFC pulled one back in the ninetieth minute through Nikhil Raj but it turned out to be a bit too late.

Kerala Blasters FC have now broken their 11 games winless streak. The win today takes them to sixth position in the league table.

In the backdrop of Kerala Blasters FC's victory over Odisha FC, coach Vukomanovic addressed the media during the official post-match conference.

Here are the excerpts from the press conference.

How important was this win?

It's a huge win for us. I think even in the first three games we were playing good football. We wanted to explore different styles, get in shape to press high, and play offensive football. We knew before the game that we were going to face a very strong team. We wanted to press them high. And I think it paid off. I think we deserved to win this game. But we stay humble and continue to work hard.

Do you think you can become one of the strongest teams in the league?

Again we have to be modest and honest. Every game is going to be difficult. But anyways, in our preparation we always want to look at our opponents and use their weaknesses. Every game will be crucial and we want to build momentum. We want to become a tough team to beat. When you’re organised and focused you become unbeatable.

What is the extent of Albino Gomes’ injury?

I don’t know as of yet. We will go back and analyse. We hope it’s nothing serious.

Alvaro Vazquez is one of the many Spanish players doing well in ISL. What do you think is the reason behind it?

Spanish football players are among the most educated footballers in the world. If you speak about their education, it’s not just their football knowledge but also social knowledge. Spanish leagues are one the best leagues in the world so that’s why they produce such good players.
