Indian senior men’s national team head coach Khalid Jamil has announced the probable squad for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Singapore.

The Blue Tigers will face Singapore twice, on October 9 at the National Stadium in Singapore and on October 14 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.

Jamil’s tenure began on a positive note when India secured third place at the CAFA Nations Cup, finishing ahead of several higher-ranked sides. They will now look to build on that momentum and carry it forward into the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, where they currently stand at a crucial juncture after collecting just one point from two games.

The Indian U-23 side, led by Naushad Moosa, also impressed in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, narrowly missing out on qualification. Nine players from that squad have been included in the senior probables, while veteran striker Sunil Chhetri returns after missing the CAFA tournament.

The preparatory camp is set to begin in Bengaluru on September 20, with players reporting a day earlier. Players from Mohun Bagan Super Giant and FC Goa who have been shortlisted for the probables will be called up later, after completing their AFC Champions League Two engagements.
