Jamshedpur FC talisman Greg Stewart has won the Hero of the Month award for February 2022 after playing a leading role in a near-perfect month for Owen Coyle’s side.

The Hero of the Month prize is given to the best player in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) every month.

As per the voting criteria, fans' votes count towards 50% of the vote share and experts' votes account for the remaining 50%. The forward has been chosen as per the fans’ and experts’ votes between periods that started from 1 PM on February 2 and ended at 1 PM on February 4.

Stewart received 20.79% of the fans’ votes pacing him third in the laist behind Kerala Blasters FC duo of Adrian Luna and Prabhsukhan Singh Gill. But he received all ten votes from the experts, taking his cumulative vote percentage to 60.4.

He thus beat Luna and Gill who were his closest competitors.

The 31-year-old was exceptional in February as he netted five goals in as many matches helping the Men of Steel to win four of those matches and thus pave their way into the semi-finals.

Stewart who is among the frontrunners for the Hero of the Season award will play a key role for Jamshedpur FC in the knockout stage.

The Scottish forward also became the first player to win the Hero of the Month award for the second time this season after he had also won the award in December 2021.

Odisha FC’s Javi Hernandez (November 2021) and Hyderabad FC’s Bartholomew Ogbeche (January 2022) are the other players to have won this award this season.
