SC East Bengal interim head coach Renedy Singh believes with so many players unavailable his team needs to act as one unit as they face Jamshedpur FC in match 57 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Tuesday.

SC East Bengal rank eleventh in the points table with six points in 10 matches. The club hasn’t registered a single win till now but have remained undefeated in their last three matches. They are only a couple of points behind NorthEast United FC in tenth position.

SC East Bengal played out a 0-0 draw with Mumbai City FC in their last match. They had only one shot on target from the six shots they took on goal.

Ahead of SC East Bengal’s clash against Jamshedpur FC, coach Renedy addressed the media during the official pre-match press conference.

Here are the excerpts from the press conference.

What will your plan be against Jamshedpur FC?

What I have learnt from the last two matches is if we play as one, remain structured nothing is impossible. First, we have to defend properly and then attack as a group. We need to stick to our plan and remain concentrated.

Will SC East Bengal look to play attacking football tomorrow to get their first win?

Yes. We have played two good matches. We defended really well. I didn’t want a cricket score. Football is all about attacking and defending together. So tomorrow we will adapt to the situation. Jamshedpur FC are a very good team who have good players. We have to concentrate on ourselves.

Do you think the team has what it takes to upset JFC?

We have to respect JFC for what they have done so far. They are a good team. But Chima will be a big miss. We also have Franjo Prce and Tomislav Mrcela injured. Darren Sidoel is recovering and Perosevic suspended. Now with so many players out we have to act as one and get going.

Can we see Semboi Haokip play as no.9 tomorrow?

I am really happy to see the amount of work he has been putting in. He even scored against Bengaluru FC. So we know what he can do. We hope he continues to do the same. We also have Balwant Singh who we might see as well.

What have you done to lift the morale of the team?

I would like to say thanks to the boys for supporting me. As a young coach they know that I need their support and whatever we plan they stick to it. We can see that they are giving more than their 100% on the field. We will see how long they can continue. But I am sure whoever comes in tomorrow will fight till the end. I want commitment and that’s what they have been giving me.
