ATK have announced the capture of Uruguayan striker Emiliano Alfaro on a loan deal from FC Pune City for the 2018-19 campaign of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).

The Pune City player has been brought in to primarily serve as a replacement for Kalu Uche, who is out with injury. Alfaro has been one of the Stallions’ most important players over the past year. He registered nine goals in 19 matches last season and formed a deadly partnership with Marcelo Pereira up front. In his debut season in the Hero ISL in 2016, Alfaro notched up five goals for NorthEast United.

Alfaro has not started the 2018-19 season on a bright note. Pune City have struggled for points this season and their star forward had only managed to find the back of the net once in six appearances.

With ATK, Alfaro will hope to be more productive in front of goal especially with the likes of Manuel Lanzarote and Everton Santos by his side. The two-time champions are currently in sixth position, collecting 10 points from a possible 18. With a proven striker in their ranks, Steve Coppell and Co. will be looking to collect maximum points from the remainder of the season.
