Abhishek Bachchan has been one of the most ardent and visible supporters of Chennaiyin FC, not to mention being a co-owner as well. He has travelled to almost every city away for their matches and has also been regularly present at home to support his side who now lead the table with 22 points and three games remaining before the knockout stage begins.Bachchan was present at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi alongside his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Chennai emerged 1-0 victors against Kerala Blasters FC in front of a 60,000 plus crowd. Speaking to indiansuperleague.com after the game, Bachchan Jr commended his team for their great spirit despite being plagued by injuries and not being at full strength. “I thought it was a great game to watch, we went all guns blazing. Kerala were a great team to play against and a team we have a lot of respect for. I’m just happy for the result and now we’re on 22 points. I guess we’ve qualified for the semis! The boys are very excited, we won a game against a good team with a depleted squad and that’s commendable,” the Bollywood star said.Commenting on the fantastic crowd that haul up to support the Blasters at their home games, Bachchan opined, “It’s unbelievable, the atmosphere is absolutely electric. It’s so loud, they love this sport and it’s absolutely fantastic.”With the league phase of the Hero Indian Super League nearing its end in about 10 days’ time, Bachchan had only positive things to say about the entire experience: “If I go by the reaction we get at the stadium and if we’re getting 61,000 people here every match, it’s goes to show that we’re doing something right. It’s fantastic for Indian football and having all these foreigners and getting them to train our Indian boys is going to make a huge difference.”
