The fifth day of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) Selection Camp saw around 15 chosen participants from every age group (2002, 2003 and 2004) train separately from the whole group. The three batches continued their morning training sessions with the 2002 batch training at the Father Agnel Ground from 6 AM to 8 AM. The 2003 and 2004 batches trained at the DY Patil Stadium starting at 7 AM. Around 15 probables were demarcated from each batch and played 7v7 games as part of the training sessions while the remainder played 11v11 games. With the coaches listing out the top 40-odd participants from the camp, Stephen Charles, FC Pune City Youth Coach, praised all the participants, keeping aside a few words for the probable chosen ones. He said, “Everyone attending the camp is talented, but what makes the difference is the extra effort. The selected 15 from each batch have given 5% more than the rest. Their tackling, shooting, passing, movement and coordination is that percent more than everyone else and that is why they are on top.”The coaches conducted a classroom session in the afternoon. A presentation was shown to the children on the importance of Fair Play, Respect and Racism. The evening training sessions resumed with the 2003 batch playing at the DY Patil Stadium from 5 PM to 7 PM. The 2002 batch trained at Father Agnel Ground (Artificial Pitch) from 6 PM to 8 PM, with the 2004 batch training from 6 PM to 7 PM at the Father Agnel Ground’s natural pitch. Once again the selected 40-odd children played 7v7 games against each other and the rest played full strength matches. For a glimpse of Day 5 action at the RFYC Selection Camp, click here.
