Mandar Rao Dessai couldn’t hide his disappointment following FC Goa’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Sunday evening. The loss keeps the Gaurs rooted at the bottom of the table having managed to accumulate just four points from their opening seven matches of Hero Indian Super League 2016. Dessai had a good game for the hosts and nearly gave Goa the lead in the first half with a shot from distance that rattled the goalpost. The 24-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the game and shared his thoughts on the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview. You played well in the first half, so what changed in the second half? You know we conceded a goal from the corner and it was our mistake and after the goal they started dominating the game. You have had a difficult run in the season so far. How are you going to turn it around? This game was really important for us as we would have finished with seven points at the end of the first phase but now I think we need to win the next games. You personally had a few goal-scoring opportunities, so are you disappointed not to score?Yes, the first one hit the post which was disappointing for me and I still tried but chances were missed.
