Hans Mulder was dejected after Chennaiyin FC’s 2-0 defeat to Mumbai City FC in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Mumbai Football Arena on Wednesday. Goals from Matias Defederico in the first half and Krisztian Vadocz in the second sealed a maiden semis appearance for Mumbai, while leaving reigning champions Chennaiyin’s semis hopes in serious doubt. Mulder played 90 minutes for the Super Machans and completed a clearance and made two successful tackles on the night. The Dutchman, who has netted twice for Chennai this year, spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview after the game. Here are the excerpts.Mumbai is becoming a tough place to visit. What do you think gave them the upper hand today?I think we were at fault because we did not play our game today and we were not focussed enough. We did not play the short passes and only played the long passes and we weren’t strong enough today.Where do you think Chennaiyin can improve, offensively or defensively?I think both and they scored two times and we scored zero, and I think we created only one chance. You have two games left against two other struggling teams NorthEast United FC and FC Goa, so what are your chances of making the semis?I think we have got to win both the games and I think we need to play like we used to when we won, then only we can win against everybody. But if we play like we played today then we are going home.
