Mumbai City FC announced today that Óscar Bruzón has been appointed as the First Assistant Coach for the next season of the Indian Super League.

Before his appointment Sporting Club de Goa was reeling in the relegation zone with 5 defeats in 6 matches. He had an immediate impact there and within 5 months he guided the team to a 6th place finish in his first season. He also guided them to the finals of the 2013-14 AIFF Federation Cup, apart from winning the Goa Pro League, the Goan Supercup and the All Goa knockout tournament in 2014.

Óscar Bruzón served as the Youth Team Coach for Areosa C.F. In 2010-2011, Óscar was named the best U-16 coach in the Galician region and was selected amongst one of the best coaches on the I-League in the FPAI Awards 2013-2014. Óscar holds the 2011 UEFA “A” Professional Coaching License issued by the Real Federacion Española de Futbol.

Ranbir Kapoor, Mumbai City FC’s co-owner commented on the occasion, “Having worked in India for the past three years, Óscar has a very good understanding of the Indian game, players and challenges involved with planning a football season. This combined with his experience as a successful player and coach from Spain gives him the right balance to take Mumbai City FC with ambition for the upcoming season”.

Óscar had extremely positive and encouraging comments regarding his appointment, “I have tracked Mumbai City FC closely and the club has also explained to me well the objectives, the previous methodology, the working patterns and the way forward of the club. Through my knowledge and experience, I will try to pay back all the confidence and responsibility placed in me. My only expectation will be to try and build, assemble and consolidate a champion team. Both Mumbai City FC and the city of Mumbai have the will and capacity to achieve it. Glad and proud to be part of this amazing project. Thanks to all the fans and family forming Mumbai City FC.”

Prior to managing Sporting Club de Goa, Bruzon played his professional football mainly in the 2nd La Liga of Spanish football, the "Segunda Division", with Celta de Vigo, UD Las Palmas and Pontevedra.
