Indian Super League (ISL ) club Jamshedpur FC on Saturday announced the signing of seasoned defender Ashutosh Mehta. The 33-year-old right-back, with his experience and battle-hardened credentials, is set to add a layer of depth and stability to Jamshedpur FC's backline. As a two-time I-League champion, with Mohun Bagan and Aizawl FC, Mehta's expertise will undoubtedly prove invaluable in Jamshedpur FC's quest for success.

Ashutosh expressed his joy stating, "I am honoured to join Jamshedpur FC. I am grateful to the club for showing trust in me and I will reciprocate this faith with all my might. I am here to win with everyone and make the fans of Jharkhand proud."

Mehta last played for Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the 2021-22 season and before represented NorthEast United FC in 2020-21 season, where he consistently impressed with his solid defensive displays.

Prior to that, he had a successful stint with Mohun Bagan, winning his second I-League title in the 2019-20 season. His performances for the Kolkata-based club earned him a recall to the ISL, a testament to his quality and dedication. Before joining Mohun Bagan, Mehta had a second stint at FC Pune City, where he had previously made his ISL debut in 2014. His experience in the top tier of Indian football is undeniable, having also played for Mumbai FC and ATK FC in the past.

Mehta will be reuniting with head coach Khalid Jamil, who he played under at various stages of his career.

Jamil shared his enthusiasm about the signing, saying, “This year will be the toughest for him as he has to prove himself all over again. As one of the most experienced players in his position, his expertise will be valuable to us. We need his experience in all aspects of the game to adapt to different situations.”

Mehta has also been included in Jamshedpur FC’s Durand Cup 2024 squad.

Drinic signs contract extension with Blasters till 2026

Kerala Blasters FC on Saturday announced the extension of Montenegrin centre-back Milos Drincic’s contract until 2026. This decision comes after a standout debut season that showcased Drincic’s vital role in the team’s future success.

Since joining Kerala Blasters FC in 2023, the 25-year-old has been a key figure in the defensive line. In his first season, he made a significant impact across 22 games, contributing not only as a defensive leader but also with crucial goals, highlighting his versatility and importance to the squad. His gritty, physical style of play has garnered admiration from fans and teammates alike.

On the contract extension Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys said: “Miloš is a determined player with high motivation to perform and leadership qualities. I’m happy that he will continue with us and I’m looking forward for a good season ahead for him.”
