Indian Super League (ISL) outfit FC Goa secured the signing of Rowllin Borges on a permanent contract following his successful loan stint with the club during the 2023–24 season. The accomplished midfielder has signed a new contract with the Gaurs until the end of the 2024–25 season.

Borges, a native of Nuvem, Goa, has been a stalwart in Indian football, amassing over 200 appearances in the nation’s top-flight leagues. His journey began with Sporting Clube de Goa and East Bengal FC in the I-League, where he made significant contributions when the league was India’s premier division.

The Indian international later transitioned to the ISL, representing NorthEast United FC, Mumbai City FC, and FC Goa.

The 2023–24 season marked one of Borges’ best individual campaigns, where he showcased his talent and consistency. The 32-year-old scored five goals in 25 matches, helping FC Goa reach the semi-finals of the Durand Cup and the ISL Cup Playoffs. The Gaurs also secured a commendable third-place finish in the ISL League Stage, finishing just three points behind League-Shield winner Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez expressed his delight at Borges’ extended association with the club.

“Rowllin has been a crucial part of our midfield since his arrival. He is an outstanding midfielder with excellent technical skills. His ability to advance from the second line and score, thanks to his superb shooting, is remarkable. His experience is a valuable asset to the team. Retaining Rowllin is crucial for FC Goa, as his leadership and skill set will play a key role in driving the team’s performance,” he said.

Borges himself shared his enthusiasm about his new contract with FC Goa: “I am overjoyed to continue my journey with FC Goa. Last season was incredible, both for me and the team, and I am grateful for the support from the fans, the coaching staff, and my teammates.

“Signing a permanent deal with my home state club is a dream come true, and I am committed to contributing to the club’s ambitions and bringing more glory to Goa,” the midfielder signed off.

Seiminlen Doungel extends his stay with Jamshedpur FC

Indian Super League (ISL) club Jamshedpur FC announced on Monday that Seiminlen Doungel, popularly known as Len, has extended his stay with the club until the end of the 2024–25 season, with an additional extension based on performance.

Doungel is a skilful, strong, and versatile player who has been an essential part of the Jamshedpur FC side for the past four seasons. The Manipur-born winger was a crucial member of the ISL Shield-winning squad. His commitment both on and off the field is an asset to Khalid Jamil, apart from his versatility to operate in multiple positions.

The 30-year-old footballer expressed his delight at extending his stay with the Khalid Jamil-led side, stating, “I have unfinished business from the last two seasons, and we need to get the club back on top of the ISL table, a place that the Jharkhand fans deserve. After spending four years with Jamshedpur FC, the club has truly become like a family. Throughout my time here, I've witnessed the immense passion and unwavering support from our dedicated and vocal fans. Doungel has had a stellar career in the ISL, representing Jamshedpur FC, FC Goa, Kerala Blasters FC, NorthEast United FC, Bengaluru FC, and Delhi Dynamos FC. He also plied his trade with East Bengal FC in the I-League, having come through their youth academy.

Len brings a wealth of experience to the squad. Over his 63 appearances for the Men of Steel, Doungel has scored five goals and provided one assist. He is also one of the six Indian players to have a hat-trick to his name in the ISL.

In addition to his club success, Len has also represented the Indian National Team. He has a trophy-winning pedigree, having won the I-League in the 2015-16 season and the Federation Cup in 2012 and 2017. He was a runner-up in the AFC Cup in 2016 and played a crucial role in FC Goa's 2019-20 ISL season, helping them finish at the top of the league and become the ISL League Shield winners.

Head coach Jamil commented on Doungel’s retention, stating, "Our goal is to assemble a squad that blends youthful energy with seasoned experience. Doungel, with his vast experience, significantly enhances our attacking capabilities while also contributing defensively. His commitment to the team is unwavering, and he consistently gives his best effort on the field. Now being one of the most experienced players, I need him to be an example for others with his performance, hard work, passion, and dedication."
