A product of the youth system of famed Czech club Sparta Praha, Podaný initially moved away for first-team football before returning to the capital club. He has since spent more time away, on various loan spells, including a trophy-winning season at Czech rivals Sigma Olomouc. He usually plays as a left winger but can also operate as left back.
