Bio
A member of some of the most significant sides of the noughties, Florent Malouda has witnessed some era-defining matches in the beautiful game. Born in French Guiana (a French overseas department), Malouda joined French side Chateauroux balancing his football commitments with studies. Subsequent spells at Guingamp, then Olympique Lyonnais established his football credentials with an incredible four consecutive Lique 1 titles. At Lyon, Malouda managed to be selected for the French national side, notably playing in the final of the 2006 World Cup final and losing heartbreakingly on penalties.
Thereafter a shift to Chelsea beckoned where his club career reached new heights with Chelsea’s ground-breaking Champions League triumph in 2011/12 where he came on in the 73rd minute to replace Ryan Bertrand in the final against Bayern Munich. Further triumphs with Chelsea included a Premier League title (2009/10) and three FA Cups. Malouda will be the Lions’ marquee player for Hero ISL 2016 after his inspirational performances last season. He provided eight assists and completed more passes than any other Delhi player in Hero ISL 2015.
