Ajay Chhetri, the East Bengal FC midfielder, has not appeared in a high proportion of the side's Indian Super League games in 2023/2024, making nine appearances overall and playing 409 minutes. He has been selected in the starting XI in six of these appearances across their 19 fixtures and been used as a substitute on three occasions. Chhetri last featured in a competition game on March 10, playing 45 minutes for East Bengal FC against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in a 3-1 loss. In total, he has notched one Indian Super League goal in 2023/2024. He has been shown five yellow cards. His opening goal of the campaign came in the 2-2 draw against Mohun Bagan Super Giant on February 3. A trip to Kerala Blasters FC on April 3 is the club's next Indian Super League game for East Bengal FC, who have 18 points and are in 10th place. Last season for Punjab FC, Chhetri made 19 I-League appearances, scored one goal and provided three assists. Chhetri linked up with East Bengal FC in August 2023 from Bengaluru FC, for whom he made six league appearances in total.
