Dhanpal Ganesh began his youth career with the Pune FC Academy. He was with the Chennaiyin FC squad for Hero ISL 2015 and 2016 but didn’t feature in a single match. The defensive midfielder, however, got his opportunities in the 2017-18 season and played a prominent role in the Marina Machans’ title win. After missing the entire 2018-19 Hero ISL due to a knee injury, he returned the next season but played in very few games. Hero ISL 2020-21 turned out even worse from his point of view as he played only sixty minutes all through the campaign.
