Gani Ahmed Nigam caught everyone’s eyes when he scored a brace to help Pune’s U-19 side beat Mohun Bagan in the 121st edition of the IFA shield in June 2017. The young midfielder was highly-rated in the FC Pune City academy and was sent out on loan to Gokulam Kerala FC, for whom he played in the Hero I-League 2018-19 and scored a goal. Having made his Hero ISL debut for Hyderabad FC back 2019, Nigam played five matches in their debut season. However, he was roped in by NorthEast United FC ahead of the ISL 2021-22.
