Bio
Tuncay Sanli, the Turkish winger, was born in Sakarya and caught the eye of Turkish giants Fenerbahce after impressive performances for his hometown club Sakaryaspor in the Turkish second division. It was at Fenerbahce where Tuncay became the first Turk to score a hat-trick; and the second person to score a hat-trick against the Red Devils in a Champions League match in 2004/05. Expressing a desire to play in the Premier League, Sanli joined Middlesbrough in 2007 and despite playing in a faltering side, he was a fan favourite at the Smoggies. He left Boro in 2009, having accounted for a quarter of their goals the previous Premier League season and joined Stoke City. At Stoke for another wo seasons, Sanli sought a change and left for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga followed by stints at Bolton Wanderers, Bursaspor and Umm Salal. Being flexible and creative, FC Pune City will look to Tuncay to better their performance last season when they ended up 6th.
