Born in Madrid, like his new teammate Sergio Cidoncha, Carlos also joined the youth ranks of Atletico Madrid to bolster his footballing CV. But his stint with the Los Rojiblancos was shortlived and he moved to the B team of Elche CF Ilicitano. He was a late bloomer as he played with modest clubs in the first and second division teams of the Spanish league late into his twenties. Sobrado is a journeyman and has also had stints in Greece with Skoda Xanthi before returning to Spain with stints at Huesca, Cadiz, Badalona and Recreativo.
