Boithang, also known as the ‘David Beckham of the North East region’, started his career at the Shillong Lajong academy in 2008 and made his senior debut in the 2009-10 season. He was a part of NorthEast United FC in Hero ISL 2014 and 2015, with his only goal for the Highlanders coming in a 5-1 defeat to Mumbai City FC. Interestingly, he signed with the Islanders for Hero ISL 2016, but an injury curtailed his season to just three appearances. He was drafted in by Bengaluru FC for ISL 2017-18 and scored in Bengaluru FC’s 3-1 win over Chennaiyin FC. This will be his second season with the Blues.
