Lester Fernandez
Midfielder
Bio
The Tata Football Academy graduate of 2007 grew up watching Carlton Chapman and Noel Wilson in his Bengaluru Austin Town backyard. He tried his luck with three Goan clubs but the move to Pune FC in 2010 turned out to be the turning point in his career. The versatile attacking midfielder became an integral part of Derrick Pereira’s Red Lizards who created waves on the Indian football circuit with their sustained aggression and positive football. Fernandez essayed the right wing, left wing and attacking midfielder roles with equal aplomb. His performances were rewarded with a national call-up and senior India debut versus Oman in 2012. While his move to star studded Prayag United did not work out as expected and the stint with Mumbai Tigers did not quite take off, Fernandez now get another chance to prove his mettle in Kolkata.
