Born in Recife, Brazil, Wellington de Lima Gomes began his career with ABC Futebol Clube in 2009 before moving to Portuguese top division team CS Maritimo in 2012. He enjoyed a loan spell with Brazilian side Duque de Caxias during his four-year stint with Maritimo where he found it difficult to nail down a first-team spot. His addition to the Highlanders ahead of Hero ISL 2016 will definitely increase competition for places in the side, while also boosting the depth of the squad.
