The veteran goalkeeper has plied his trade in Goa, Mumbai and Kolkata with varying levels of success. Luis Barreto made his mark at the national level with Sporting Goa and starred in several campaigns of the ‘Flaming Oranje’, putting in several man-of-the-match performances en route. Known for his courage and anticipation, Barreto’s ill-advised move to cross town rivals Dempo saw him get little playing time. He found his feet again at Mumbai FC where he was one of the key contributors in their campaign to avoid the drop. His performance for the Mumbai side saw him sign for Mohammedan Sporting in 2013-14 before eventually moving to East Bengal in 2014-15.

Luis Barreto came on for an injured Sandeep Nandy in the second leg of the Hero ISL 2014 semi-finals against Chennaiyin to see his team through to the finals.
