The forward began his career with Maltese clubs Hibernians and Marsaxlokk. He later moved to Germany and signed for Eintracht Braunschweig and followed it up with stints in countries like Greece, Austria, Hungary and Cyprus. In 2016, he joined Portuguese Primeira Liga side Boavista and played 32 matches for them across all competitions. The Maltese international also has UEFA Europa League appearances under his belt and is one of the top 10 most capped players for his country. Schembri will be banking on this experience to deliver exciting results for Chennaiyin in the Hero ISL 2019-20 season.
