Having come through the youth systems of Pune FC and DSK Shivajians FC, Lalawmpuia joined FC Goa's developmental squad in 2017. After consistent performances in the Hero I-League second division for two seasons, Lalawmpuia was drafted into the senior squad for the 2019-20 season. He made his Hero ISL debut with Hyderabad FC during the 2020-21 season.
