Lalkhawpuimawia, fondly known as Mapuia, made his name at Aizawl FC in the Hero I-League. From there he moved to Goa to sign for Churchill Brothers in 2019. He scored five goals for the club in the 2019-20 season and was one of their best Indian performers. He joined NorthEast United FC ahead of the ISL 2020-21 and made his debut the following season.
