Despite being Brazilian by birth, Diego Carlos played most of his football in Russia, making over a hundred appearances in less than six years. Following that, he returned to Brazil to play for Sao Bento in the Paulista A1. He signed for FC Pune City before the start of the Hero ISL 2017-18 season and quickly became one of their important players for the Stallions, making 18 appearances during the Stallions’ run to the semis. The 2018-19 season saw him turn out for Pune in nine matches, raking in two goals and an assist. He moved to Mumbai before the start of the Hero ISL 2019-20 season.
