Rafael Coelho began his career in the youth setup of Brazilian club Figueirense before going on to make his debut for their senior team in 2007. The energetic Brazilian is capable of playing as a striker as well as an attacking midfielder. After two years with Figueirense he moved to Desportivo Brasil in 2010.

Loans spells with Vasco da Gama and Avaí during his time with Desportivo Brasil eventually culminated in his first taste of football in Asia. He joined Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F in 2012 and also enjoyed short stints with Changchun Yatai FC in China and Buriram United FC in Thailand before joining FC Goa for Hero ISL 2015. Coelho made a major impact with the Gaurs last season, scoring twice and earning his side penalties on more than one occasion. FC Goa fans will be hoping he continues in the same vein in the upcoming season.
