Bio
Tolgay Özbey is an Australian striker of Turkish descent. He made a name for himself in the New South Wales Premier League with Blacktown City Demons by bagging the ‘player of the year’ award in 2006 and ‘Andreas golden boot’ in 2006 & 2007. Brief stints with A-League sides Sydney FC and Newcastle United Jets didn’t go according to plan so Özbey also tried his luck in the Turkish third division before embarking on a journey to India.
In 2010, he joined East Bengal as the I-League side prepared for their foray into AFC Cup. He was a regular scorer for the ‘red and gold’ brigade before joining arch rivals Mohun Bagan in 2012. His stints with Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting however were not as eminently successful. In January 2014, he joined Dempo and helped them to a respectable fourth placed finish by scoring eight goals in six appearances.
