Mads Junkers has played seven games for his national team, scoring for the Danes on one occasion. He made his debut in the Danish Superliga in 2000 for Lyngby BK. In 2001 he signed for Brøndby IF but was unable to fit into the formation played by manager Michael Laudrup.

Junkers was sold to first-division Ølstykke where he scored 23 goals in just 30 games, catching the eye of Nordsjælland. He got off to a flying start there, scoring 11 goals in the first half of his first season, and in all, Junkers scored 28 goals in 52 appearances for the northeast club. He has since spent time in the Dutch and Belgian leagues. The Copenhagen-born striker has also made seven appearances for the senior Danish side, scoring once in a friendly against Germany.
