Ponif Vaz joined SESA Football Academy at 16 and went on to play for other Goan clubs like Sporting Clube de Goa and Churchill Brothers. Ponif won the gold medal at the 2014 Lusofonia Games with the Goa-India team. He was part of the NorthEast United FC squad for the 2020-21 Hero Indian Super League.
