Hmingthanmawia, popularly known as Valpuia, rose through the ranks at the Aizawl FC youth set-up and was promoted to the senior team in September 2017. He went on to play for them in the Hero I-League as well as the AFC Cup. Roped in by Mumbai City FC, Valpuia made four appearances for the Islanders in Hero ISL 2019-20. However, in Mumbai City FC’s most successful season in 2020-21, he warmed the bench all through.
