Born in Mizoram, Hmingthanmawia, popularly known as Valpuia, rose through the ranks at the Aizawl FC youth setup and was promoted to the senior team in September 2017. He made 10 appearances in the Hero I-League 2017-18 in his debut season with the club. He also played five matches in Aizawl's AFC Cup campaign. The Hero I-League 2018-19 season saw him turn up for the side on 15 occasions as Aizawl finished 7th in the table. Roped in by Mumbai City FC, this will be the young versatile defender’s first taste of Hero ISL.
