Bio
Juan Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez, fondly known as Juanan, spent his youth career at San Pedro, RCD Mallorca and CD San Francisco before moving to Deportivo la Coruna’s B team in 2007. He eventually made it to the first team but decided to join Real Madrid Castilla - Real Madrid’s reserve side – in 2009. He has had stints in Germany with Fortuna Dusseldorf, in Hungary with Ujpest FC and in USA with Rayo OKC. The Spaniard moved to Bengaluru FC in 2016 and helped the club reach the AFC Cup final the same year, a first for an Indian club. Juanan was also integral to their title-winning 2018-19 campaign before ensuring that Bengaluru FC had the tightest defence during the 2019-20 season. After an underwhelming 2020-21 season with the Blues that saw them finish seventh in the standings, the defender joined Hyderabad FC ahead of the 2021-22 Hero ISL.
